6th Conference of Patois Speakers of Venezuela and the Caribbean

Patois (French Creole) is still spoken on both sides of the Gulf of Paria. What has its contribution been? The 6th Conference of Patois Speakers of Venezuela and the Caribbean aims to highlight the historical, social and linguistic links between Trinidad & Tobago and its nearest neighbour, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. During the conference, issues of language resources, language vitality, language documentation and language revitalisation will be discussed. Community elders and language practitioners will be honoured and engaged in all of the matters. 

The conference takes place from 9am to 12.30pm.

Her Excellency Coromoto Godoy, Ambassador of Venezuela 

Dr. Lancelot Cowie, Director, Centre for Latin America & the Caribbean 

Dr. Emilio Mosonyi, Specialist, Venezuelan Languages and Linguistics
