The Institute of International Relations and the Indian High Commission invite you to the Indian Arrival Day Panel Discussion “Contemporary Spaces, New Horizons", and book launch of “The Contemporary Caribbean: Issues and Challenges”, by Ms. Priti Singh. The event will take place at the Learning Resource Centre(LRC) Auditorium, from 5.30pm-7.30pm, after which a reception will follow, from 7.30pm-8.30pm. This event will promote Ms. Singh’s book and its relevance to the celebration of Indian Arrival Day.
Three panelists will discuss various sub-themes of India-T&T relations under the overall therme of “Contemporary Spaces, New Horizons”. The three panelists are Dr. Priti Singh, Assistant Professor, School of International Studies, JNU, New Delhi, India; Dr. Satbalkaran Singh, President, India Alumni Association of T&T; and Prof. Atlury Murali, Chair of Contemporary Studies, UWI.
Priti Singh is an Assistant Professor in the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and teaches courses on foreign policy and political economy of Latin America and the Caribbean. She is a recipient of the Fellowship of the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), the Australia-India Council Fellowship (AIC), and the Senior Faculty Research Fellowship of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, and has been engaged in research on identity, representation and rights of indigenous communities and government policy. Her major research interests include comparative studies on policy issues on indigenous people, multiculturalism, and social movements in Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada. She has also published various research articles and presented papers in international conferences on these themes.
