The Department of Management Studies officially launches the Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Unit (THSU).

The Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Unit is a full service research Unit in the Department of Management Studies, University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus established “to provide visible intellectual leadership for the development of the regional hospitality, tourism and sport industries in a competitive and sustainable manner”. It provides a range of quantitative and qualitative custom-designed research services to meet the needs of both public and private sector clients. They engage experts and graduate students to provide the research framework, facilitate data collection and analysis to inform its stakeholders' decisions.
