The Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA), The University of the West Indies (UWI), Eastern Emancipation and Cultural Committee and the Afro-Caribbean Drummers Association of Trinidad and Tobago will host the third Biddeau Drum Symposium as part of the Biddeau Drum Festival on August 3rd at the Open Campus Auditorium, Gordon Street, St Augustine.
Under the theme “Drums: The Healing of a Nation”, the Symposium aims to promote and build upon the contribution to the cultural heritage of T&T made by the Biddeau family, in particular, Andrew and Jeffrey Biddeau. It will feature a Panel Discussion as well as drumming demonstrations which seeks to explore and discuss different ways in which the drum can be used as a healing tool.
Paneists include Lutalo Masimba (Brother Resistance) President of Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO); Dr. Regla Diago and Jamil Bisnath, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Tassa Association.
The event runs from 9:30am to 4:00pm. All are invited.
