The UWI Research Expo 2013 promises to be an exciting and enriching experience for visitors to the St Augustine Campus, with a wide variety of interactive displays, workshops, creative activities and a research Symposium, all of which will come together to showcase the enterprising research being developed in the arts and sciences. It will be a memorable experience for the entire family.

World Cocoa and Chocolate Day

Tuesday 1st October |9:30am-6pm |JFK Auditorium

The UWI Research Expo kicks-off with a day filled with everything chocolate, from showcasing the premium, dark Trinitario chocolates to learning about the rich history of our cocoa estates. Visitors to this event, hosted by the Cocoa Research Centre, will enjoy a variety of chocolate products of local entrepreneurs from truffles to ice-creams, blended wines to butter soaps.

Mini Workshops

Thursday 3rd- Friday 4th October | 9am-4pm | UWI St. Augustine Lecture Halls & Rooms

A wide range of mini-workshops hosted by the Faculties and research Units across the Campus will present unique, hands-on learning opportunities to participants - from creative writing to understanding 4G networks and learning about smart grid technology.

UWI Research Symposium

Wednesday 2nd October | 1pm-6pm | Learning Resource Centre

This Symposium on research, enterprise and impact will include presentations and panel discussions that highlight the key findings of some of the projects that benefitted from dedicated research funding by the government of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as other UWI projects. These presentations will focus on the various impacts that have resulted from a small sample of UWI research projects, which have contributed to national and/or regional development by creating enterprising solutions, engaging our communities or facilitating evidence-based policy-making.

UWI Market Place & Kids Fun Park

“Learning Is Fun”

Saturday 5th October | 10:00am -3pm | LRC Grounds

This is an opportunity for the entire family to learn about UWI research at a Saturday viewing of our Expo, while at the same time enjoying products from Units such as our University Field Station and Cocoa Research Centre at the UWI Market Place and being thoroughly entertained in the Kids Fun Park. Families can come together in a relaxed setting to enjoy our mini-concerts, storytelling and carnival character parade featuring students from our own Department for the Creative and Festival Arts, get close to live animals in the petting zoo, and have fun in the gaming zone, bouncy castle, SPEC sports challenge zone, as well as meet some of our national sport icons.

Admission is free. All are invited.
