UCI has built a strong reputation in teaching software engineering thorough effective and impactful application. These applications, powered by Open Source tools, are used at all levels of government and industry where the norm elsewhere has been to utilise commercially available solutions. UCI is in Trinidad to explore possible collaborative links with industry and The UWI, and have noted The UWI’s earlier attempts to direct its Knowledge-Based Research & Development to industrial application.
