Over thirty years ago, something amazing happened.

There was a Football Week under the Guild which pitted Milner Hall and Canada Hall versus themselves and an off-Campus team. This simply was not enough football for the likes of now notable persons like former Central Bank economist, Gregory McGuire, and even current UWI football coach, Hayden Martin. As such, these men, along with other colleagues, decided to get up and do it themselves. And so, the name and guiding philosophy of the league was generated – Get Up and Do It Yourself. G.U.A.D.I.Y. is now a vital part of the social, cultural and sporting fabric of The UWI St. Augustine and Trinidad and Tobago, and is one of the most consistent and long-term projects ever managed by the UWI Guild of Students. Teams have come and gone, but GUADIY remains. GUADIY isn’t an acronym; it’s a way of life. 

The UWI Guild of Students Get Up And Do It Yourself (GUADIY) football tournament kicked off on Monday September 20, with Venom vs Agnatic and Milner vs Vorstelijke.
