“Contributions to Mathematics and Finance” - A Professorial Inaugural Lecture

On March 13, Professor Moawia Alghalith will provide new approaches to Finance and Mathematics as he presents his Professorial Inaugural Lecture entitled “Contributions to Mathematics and Finance” at the Noor Hassanali Auditorium, Faculty of Law from 5:30pm.

These Professorial Inaugural lectures aim to showcase the research of our campus' recently appointed or promoted Professors for members of the wider comminity. In his presentation, , Professor Alghalith will develop new methods of stochastic optimization, new solutions to partial differential equations and new methods of pricing derivatives. For him, “These contributions overcome major obstacles in Financial Mathematics.” All are invited.

Professor Alghalith obtained the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University in the USA. He joined the academic staff of The UWI in 2008 and is currently the Graduate Coordinator for the MSc Economics Programme. His service to the University is highlighted by the design of a new course - Advanced Financial Economics - and his contribution to the development of a new MSc Programme in Financial Economics at the St. Augustine Campus. He was appointed Professor on May 29th, 2013.
