This is part of the ongoing process of strengthening and repositioning student services as central to student success and the development of the Distinctive UWI Graduate. The format of the seminar series provides a forum for discussion and the sharing of ideas and experiences, allowing participants to gain additional knowledge that could be used to enhance student development. Presentations can be taken from ongoing research or published work.

More about the S2 Seminar Series
The Office of the Deputy Principal in collaboration with the Student Services launched the Students Services Seminar Series (S2 Seminar Series) in the 2012/2013 academic year. The first seminar was held on March 22nd, 2013 by Dr. Deirdre Charles, whose presentation was titled “Assessing the relationship between service quality as perceived by students and students’ overall satisfaction with student support services at universities in Trinidad: An argument for soft skills”.
Ms Robinson-Nelson's Abstract
Conflict is present in all aspects of life. The diversity of students found on the UWI Residence Hall adds to the potential for conflict. Mediation has in recent times been utilized for conflict resolution and the UWI has also produced a number of graduates in this field.
Scholars on residence life have purported that Residence Life students are supposed to be above average achievers having been given the environment to focus on learning as well as exposure to life skills like problems solving. The question is how do residence life students resolve their conflicts?
The presentation attempts to look at how UWI Residence Life students resolve their conflicts in one UWI Hall of Residence. It gathers feedback on how other Halls resolve conflicts and looks at what role mediation can possibly play in finding better ways to resolve these types of conflicts.
