Call for Papers - Conference on the Economy (COTE) 2014

The UWI’s Department of Economics Annual Conference on the Economy (COTE) 2014 is scheduled for October 9–10, 2014, at the Learning Resource Auditorium (LRC), The University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad.

COTE is an annual landmark event of the Department at which findings from quality research and other studies are presented to inform our stakeholders on economic and social policy impacts. This year’s conference posthumously honours previous Head of Department, Professor Dennis Pantin (1994-1999, 2006-2009), and will examine the theme "“Addressing Contemporary Local and Regional Challenges for Sustainable Development” along the following subthemes:

  • - The Trinidad and Tobago Economy
  • - Sustainable Development & Resource Use
  • - Technology & Industrial Policy
  • - Caribbean Economics & Economies
  • - Governance and Development
  • - Small Island Developing States

Guidelines for Completing Abstracts

  • - All abstracts should be submitted in English
  • - Abstracts should be limited to 250 words
  • - Abstracts should indicate the conference theme under which it is being submitted
  • - Names of all the authors and the contact information of the lead author should be indicated
  • -Abstracts should detail the aims, methodology and findings

All abstracts and papers should be submitted to cote@sta.uwi.edu by the deadline indicated below.  

Deadlines

  • - Submission of abstracts: August 1, 2014
  • - Submission of completed conference papers by presenters: September 16, 2014
  • - Submission of PowerPoint: October 3, 2014
Selected papers from the conference will be submitted to special editions of the CCMF Journal of Business, Finance and Economics in Emerging Economies and the ASSET Journal in recognition of the significant contribution which our honouree made to these journals. Guidelines for the submission of the selected papers will be provided on the conference website.
