On Friday April 25, 2014, the Department of History hosts H.E. Gauri Shankar Gupta, High Commissioner of India to Trinidad and Tobago, to deliver a lecture at the St. Augustine campus.
The lecture is titled “Exploring Contemporary India”, and takes place at 5.30pm at the Centre for Language Learning (CLL) Auditorium.

His Excellency, Mr. Gauri Shankar Gupta, has had a long and lustrous career in the Indian Foreign Service since 1981. He has served in Indian missions in Belgium, Bangladesh, Mexico, Manila and Paris. Mr. Gupta was appointed Deputy Permanent Delegate of India and Alternate Member of India on the Executive Board of UNESCO. Subsequently, he has served as Ambassador of India to Mongolia, Budapest, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Gupta is now serving as of High Commissioner of India to Trinidad and Tobago, Commonwealth of Dominica, Montserrat and Grenada. His Excellency is a prolific poet and writer with four published books of poetry and prose. He is also widely published in several professional journals and has presided over many academic conferences and seminars. Mr. Gupta is fluent in English, French, Spanish, Hindi and Rajasthani.
