History Seminar - Crisis in Venezuela: Historical Perspectives

The Department of History hosts a graduate seminar, “Crisis in Venezuela: Historical Perspectives”, presented by Dr Armando Garcia and Dr Christian Cwik, lecturers in the Department.  

The seminar takes place on Thursday April 24, 2014, at 1.30pm, at Room SB 4, Faculty of Humanities and Education.   

More about the presenters 

Dr  Armando Garcia de la Torre holds a Ph.D in World History from Washington State University and is a Lecturer in Latin American History at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. His book, Jose Marti and the Global Origins of Cuban Independence (U.W.I. Press, 2015) reveals the global influences of the late 19th century revolutionary leader. 

Dr Christian Cwik is lecturer for European and Atlantic History at the Department since August 2013. Before joining the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine he was lecturer of Caribbean and Latin American History at the University of Cologne in Germany. He has also held positions at Vienna University and the University of Graz in Austria. He has held visiting positions at Dresden University in Germany, the Pablo Olavide University in Seville, the Havanna University in Cuba as well as at the Cartagena University in Colombia and the Bolivarian University in Venezuela. He is expert for Austrian and German history.
