Lecture Series: DNA, GENiES and GeNOMES: Understanding Gene Discovery and Genetic Testing in Cancer

The Departments of Para-Clinical Sciences & Pre-Clinical Sciences host DNA, GENiES and GeNOMES:Understanding Gene Discovery and Genetic Testing in Cancer, Part 1 of a Public Lecture Series. It  aims to educate the public about human genetics and to generate awareness about the field and its implications. 

The lecture takes place on Thursday May 1, from 4.30pm–6.30pm, at Amphitheatre A, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt. Hope.

Speakers are: 

Dr Allana Roach

Allana Roach B.S. Hons., (USA), Ph.D. (USA) is a Lecturer in the Department of Para-Clinical Sciences at the Faculty of Medical Sciences. She holds her doctorate in Genetics and Human Genetics and has extensive experience in community health education. Her areas of expertise include psychosocial genetics, human research ethics and transdisciplinary genomics.  

Dr Roma Rambaran

Roma Rambaran BSc (UWI) MSc (Lond, UK) PhD (Leeds, UK) is Lecturer in Chemical pathology and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and has extensive experience in researching the pathogenesis of disease and developing gene therapy. 

Dr Christine Carrington

Christine Carrington, B.Sc. Hons., Ph.D. (Lond) is Professor of Molecular Genetics and Virology and has been Deputy Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Medical Sciences since 2007.
