The Faculty of Social Sciences will be hosting Professor Narayan Jayaram, fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, for one week.
During his stay, he will deliver an Open Lecture titled “India Today: Challenges and Responses”, on Tuesday September 30, from 6pm-7pm, at Room 103, Faculty of Social Sciences.
Admission to the lecture is free, and is open to ALL.

More about Professor Jayaram
Professor Narayana Jayaram has over 35 years of experience in teaching and research. He served as visiting professor of Indian Studies at the UWI, St. Augustine campus from 1994-1996, Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Change from 2006-2008, and is currently a fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. He has supervised numerous graduate theses and has participated extensively in various academic conferences.
Professor Jayaram has authored over 14 books including Sociology of Education in India (1990) and On Civil Society: Issues and Perspectives (2005) and has authored over 100 research papers and 300 book reviews. His areas of interest include Sociology of Education, Sociology of Social Stratification, Political Sociology, Indian Diaspora, and Theory and Methodology of Social Research.
