The Institute of International Relations invites the Campus Community to the open lecture, “ARAB ISRAELI CONFLICT: Towards a Peaceful Resolution of the Crisis”, by Professor Abdelwahad Hechiche of the Department of Government and International Affairs, University of South Florida.
The lecture takes place on Thursday October 2, 2014, at 4pm, at the Noor Hassanali Law Lecture Theatre, and is open to the public.

More about Professor Hechiche
Professor Abdelwahab Hiba Hechiche is a faculty member of the Department of Government and International Affairs at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. His graduate and post-graduate degrees are from the University of Paris-Sorbonne and the Institute for Advanced International Relations of the Faculty of Law-Pantheon of the University of Paris. His doctoral dissertation dealt with The Palestine Question and Israeli-Jordanian Relations. After an internship at the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, his International Law degree was The UN and Peaceful Cooperation in Outer Space. He published : Palestinian Self-Determination Between Law and Force-Facing American-Israeli Obstacles, What Jews Should Know About Islam and Muslims, and Sciences and Arts Serving Peace: For A new International Morality.
His most recent refereed articles are: “The Jasmine Revolution Between Secularism and Islamic Fundamentalism: The Case of Tunisia and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, The Levantine Review, Vol.2 No.2, Winter 2013. The Axis Paris-London-Washington and the Mediterranean: From Suez to Benghazi via Tunis-1956-2013, The Maghreb Review, London, Spring 2014. “From the Arab Spring to the Islamist Spring: Or How to Build a Democracy “Without Democrats”, published in English, ENSAIO-DO-IE, and in Portuguese in Politica Externa, Vol.21, Jun/Jul/Ag 2012 Professor Hechiche was a Fulbright Scholar in Algeria in 2006-2007. In 2014, he published The Tunisian Tsunami and Its Aftermath in “Europe from the Outside: Expectations of Europe’s External Cultural Relations”, and he contributed to “The World Justice Project Rule of Law Index 2014.”
He received the Prize of the Fondation de La Vocation for his early commitment to peace in the Middle East. Professor Hechiche was twice a fellow at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies of Harvard University, and a Dean Rusk Fellow at the Southern Institute of International Studies in Atlanta, Georgia.
