Distinguished Open Lecture - Professor Eric R. Fossum

The UWI, St. Augustine hosts a Distinguished Open Lecture by Eric R. Fossum, Professor at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth.

Professor Fossum is best known for the invention of the CMOS image sensor “camera-on-a-chip” used in billions of cameras, from smart phones to web cameras to pill cameras to DSLRs.  He is a solid-state image sensor device physicist and engineer, and his career has included academic and government research, and entrepreneurial leadership. His work has touched many here on Earth, from every smartphone to automobiles and medicine, from security and safety to art, social media and political change.

Professor Fossum's lecture is titled CMOS Image Sensors in Every Camera:  A Story of Technology Invention, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The lecture takes place at 5.30pm and all are invited.
