'Ministry of Design' DCFA Colloquium

The Visual Arts Unit of the Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) welcomes papers for the colloquium entitled: “Ministry of Design – from cottage industry to state enterprise." 
 
The objective of this colloquium is to generate public discussion on how can this Ministry of Design support:
·         Design for the Individual 
·         Design for the Home
·         Design for Education 
·         Design for Business
·         Design for Social Good 
·         Design Development / Sustainability
·         Design practice
·         Design Futures 
·         Urban design
·         Sustainable design
·         Other relevant areas 
 
During the colloquium, designers, design educators, and professionals from varied disciplines including engineering, architecture, manufacturing among others, will present their views on how a ‘Ministry of Design’ could function, how design can improve ‘governance’ or how design practice can be improved through government intervention.

The Colloquium will also feature an exhibition highlighting work by design students, alumni and faculty of the Visual Arts Unit of the DCFA, which aims to show the wide scope of the design industry.
