Abstract
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a common and costly neurodevelopmental disorder. A growing body of literature supports the impact of appropriately intensive and targeted interventions in improving the lives of children with ASD. However, there remain many controversies around optimal treatment. In his talk, Dr. Warren will review the public health challenge of providing evidence-based interventions to children with ASD. He will specifically discuss what is known, and what is not known, regarding some of the most common interventions for ASD, including: early intervention, pharmacological treatment, as well as complementary and alternative approaches to treatment. Challenges and opportunities for realizing personalized approaches to ASD will be discussed as well as what is known about the impact of treatment on lifespan trajectories of individuals with ASD.
