IGDS Panel Discussion: 'Promoting the Rights of Women in T&T: Issues and Challenges'

The Institute for Gender and Development Studies presents a Panel Discussion on "Promoting the Rights of Women in Trinidad and Tobago: Issues and Challenges." 

This event takes place from 4 to 5.30pm.

The Chair of the event is Ms. Gaietry Pargass: Attorney at Law, Human Rights Lawyer and other panelists include: 

  • Prof. Rashida Manjoo, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, its Causes and Consequences
  • Ms. Tracy Robinson, Rapporteur on the Rights of Women of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
  •  Prof. Patricia Mohammed, Head and Professor of Gender and Cultural Studies, St Augustine

The panel discussion provides an opportunity for key stakeholders to gain insights into the roles and functions of the UN Special Rapporteur and the Rapporteur on the Rights of Women and, more particularly, the mechanisms available for placing country-level information relating to the realization of women's civil, political, social, cultural and developmental rights on the regional and international human rights agendas.
