The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) and the Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina (CAF) presents the“Citizen Security” Workshop.
This event takes place from 9am to 1pm.
This workshop addresses the CAF’s Economy and Development Report (RED 2014) about how the threat of crime violates our human rights and restricts on the freedom of movement and association. Mr Pablo Sanguinetti of CAF will be presenting as well as these other esteemed panelists:
· Professor Derek Chadee, Head, Department of Behavioural Sciences, UWI;
· Ms Susan Francois, Director, Financial Intelligence Unit;
· Mr Gregory Sloane-Seale, Programme Coordinator, Citizens Security Programme, Ministry of National Security;
· Ms Folade Mutota, Executive Director, Women’s Institute for Alternative Development
· Mr Alloy Youksee, Senior Prisons Officer (retired) and Ph.D. Candidate, Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, UWI.
The panel, and the discussion that follows, shall be moderated by Ms Renée Cummings, Criminologist and Criminal Psychologist.
The general public and members of the media are invited to attend. Space, which is limited, shall be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Refreshments shall be served.
