Abstract
In the year two thousand and fifteen, for the first time in the banking history of Trinidad and Tobago, there are three women in the role of chief executive officer (CEO) out of eight banks. The purpose of this project is to get an understanding of why they were selected, what has been their experience at the top position been thus far and how their experiences can inform other women seeking leadership positions. Semi-structured, face-to-face interviews will be conducted in these three banks with the women CEO’s, Chairmen, and board members involved in the decision of whom to appoint as CEO’s.
Bella Rose Ragins’ and Eric Sundstrom’s ‘Relationship between path to power and level of analysis’ will be used to examine the power dynamics, material and ideological dimensions of gender, and exclusionary practices at play within this space.
