The Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) Music Unit presents Ms. Demika Guevara in her final year Percussion recital titled “Becoming Me."
The recital begins at 6pm.
A student of Dr. Jeannine Remy, Ms. Guevara will be performing multi-percussive pieces on a host of instruments including drum, vibraphone, marimba, xylophone, timpani.
You can look forward to hearing the works of: William L. Cahn-Nara (multi-percussion), Warren Benson – Three Dances (snare drum), Christopher Deane – Morning Dove Sonnet (Vibra-harp), Keiko Abe – Dream of the Cherry Blossom (marimba), Alice Gomez –Gitano (marimba), Fritz Kreisler – Caprice Viennios (xylophone) and Demika’s adapted version of Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin for the timpani accompanied by a small band.
This performance is for all music enthusiasts, performers, percussionists, fans of live music and anyone who enjoys theatrical type of music performance. The UWI Percussion Ensemble and members of the Dominant Seven Jazz Band will accompany Ms. Guevara as she embarks on this journey as a solo-performing artist.
