The Department of Chemical Engineering hosts a seminar by Dr. Alan J Harper of Heriot-Watt University on the topic, Industrial Symbiosis and the Closed Loop Economy in Island Communities.

The event takes place at 10am. 

Dr. Alan J. Harper is the Programme Director of Sustainability Engineering at Heriot-Watt University.  His seminar will cover some examples from his “industrial and somewhat eclectic" interests in:

• Intensifying the Whisky Process, mostly extendable to other spirits
• Fish food protein from Whisky by-products
• Feedstock recovery from plastics, beverage by products and demolition wastes.
• Biochar
• Microbial fuel cells
