Faculty of Law Human Rights Symposium: Violence against Women and Deconstructing Masculinity

The Faculty of Law in collaboration with the European Union presents a Panel Discussion on Violence against Women and Deconstructing Masculinity.

This event takes place from 6pm to 8pm. This Panel Discussion will be held in the Noor Hassanali Auditorium at the Faculty of Law and is one of a series of Events under the Faculty of Law’s European Union funded project entitled Growing Capacity for Elevating Human Rights in Trinidad and Tobago.

A distinguished panel of experts will discuss the impact of traditional conceptions of masculinity on the perpetuation of violence against women as well as the response of the justice system, in light of Trinidad and Tobago’s International Human Rights commitments.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Levi Gahman, Institute for Gender and Development Studies
  • Natalie O’Brady, Rape Crisis Center & Coalition against Domestic Violence
  • Gaietry Pargass, Attorney-at-Law/CAFRA (T&T)
  • Veronica Aragón, Faculty of Law, St. Augustine

The Moderator is Elizabeth Solomon, Caribbean Centre for Human Rights.
