IGDS & SOE Panel Discussions: Women Speak: Setting New Research Agendas; Reframing Public Policy

The Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) continues their three-part panel discussion series with this week’s Women Speak: Setting New Research Agendas; Reframing research and policy around vulnerability and violence in East Port of Spain in memory of Mark Richards, Denelson Smith and Salim Dalzell & in commemoration of International Women’s Day, March 2016.

This and all panels take place from 9.30am to noon at the School of Education Auditorium.

About IGDS 

The Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS), St. Augustine Unit (SAU), formerly known as the Centre for Gender and Development Studies (CGDS), the IGDS has its origins in the work of the Women and Development Studies Group (WDSG) at The UWI. Our mission is to produce and disseminate knowledge on gender-related issues in the Caribbean in support of The UWI's mission and to enhance Caribbean development. At the St. Augustine Unit, we offer disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses in gender studies across faculties within The University of the West Indies at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We initiate collaborative research projects that address the relationship of gender to all areas of society. We pursue a programme of outreach activities that includes seminars, workshops and networking events.

In Memoriam 

Mark Richardson and Denelson Smith were students of Success Laventille Secondary School murdered on their way home from school on January 21, 2016.  Salim Dalzell was murdered outside the school gate of the Success Laventille Secondary School in November 2014.
