Translation: You are invited to LusoFesta 2016!

This week of activities is hosted by the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics (DMLL) and will take place from April 11 to 15.

This event highlights the impact of the Portuguese language in different countries, and this year Cape Verde is the highlighted Lusophone (Portuguese-official) country. Bahia in Brazil and Porto in Portugal will also be in focus. 

Monday April 11 at 6pm is the opening of LusoFesta 2016, with a screening of Soca in She Samba (T&T –Brazil) with Christopher Laird. 

About the Film

1986 Calypso Monarch, Young King and Road March Champion, David Rudder travels to Bahia, Brazil, in search of the “Bahia Gyal” — the subject of his winning road march — while also examining West African traditions shared by Brazilians, Trinidadians and most “New World” people.
