You are invited to LusoFesta 2016! A week of activities is hosted by the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics (DMLL) and will take place from April 11 to 15.
This event highlights the impact of the Portuguese language in different countries, and this year Cape Verde is the highlighted Lusophone (Portuguese-official) country. Bahia in Brazil and Porto in Portugal will also be in focus.
On Tuesday April 12 at 6pm there will be a screening of A Talking Picture (2003 Portugal).
About the Film
Directed by noted Portuguese director from Porto, Manoel de Oliveira the film is based on a voyage on the Mediterranean, a Portuguese professor (Leonor Silveira) shows her young daughter (Filipa de Almeida) ancient sites, while three women engage the ship's captain (John Malkovich) in debate.
