DMLL Lusofesta 2016 closes with Lusofesta Day!

LusoFesta 2016the week of activities hosted by the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics (DMLL) from April 11 to 15 comes to a close on Friday April 15 with Lusofesta Day.

This event highlights the impact of the Portuguese language in different countries, and this year Cape Verde is the highlighted Lusophone (Portuguese-official) country. Bahia in Brazil and Porto in Portugal will also be in focus.

For Lusofesta Day, the following activities will take place from 10am to noon at the CLL Auditorium:

  • Opening | 10am | Dr. Nicole Roberts, Head of Department - Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics
  • Feature Speaker | 10.15am | Dr. David Rampersad, Director- Central Office for Regional and International Affairs (CORIA)
  • Capoeira Demonstration | 10.30am
  • Regional Dances from Brazil, Cape Verde and Portugal | 11am
  • Tour of Lusofonia | 11.30am | Cape Verde – CLL Room 1 | Brazil – CLL Room 2 | Portugal – CLL Room 3
  • Language Café and a Taste of Brazil |noon | CLL Atrium
