The UWI will launch its Youth Development Programme (UWI-YDP) on International Youth Day August 12 at 10am Barbados time.

The event takes place at the School of Business, Cave Hill Campus, where Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles will deliver remarks and sign the operational mandate of the UWI-YDP.

About the UWI-YDP

The University of the West Indies’ Youth Development Programme comes out of the Vice Chancellery and is intended to deepen The UWI’s involvement in regional youth development through the implementation of key interventions targeting persons ages 15 -35. Programmes, projects, workshops and other initiatives will be designed to mainstream youth issues into every sector of society and will focus on a variety of sustainable development areas including:

• Economic participation
• Health and Wellness
• Governance
• Research and Policy
• Education and Skills Development
