The UWI Actuarial Science Club hosts the fourth edition of its Seminar in Excellence Series featuring presentations by guest speakers: Kyle Rudden, actuary, chartered accountant and Managing Director of KR Services Ltd and Anthony Smart, former Attorney General and current Chairman of the Board of Directors of the First Citizens Bank.

The seminar takes place from 1 to 3pm. 

About the Guest Speakers

Mr. Kyle Rudden, FCCA, CA(T&T), FSA, FIA, ACAS, ACIB, FCAA

Kyle Rudden is an actuary and chartered accountant with more than twenty-five years' experience in the Caribbean, African and South American financial services industry.  

He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

He is the Managing Director of KR Services Limited, a Trinidad-based actuarial consulting firm, heading a team of actuaries and related professionals in advising governments, life and general insurance companies, pension plans and other entities.

Throughout his career, Kyle has represented the accounting and actuarial professions in various capacities: as an examiner in Investments and Corporate Finance for the US Society of Actuaries and a Board member of the Trinidad & Tobago Institute of Chartered Accountants, Stock Exchange and Central Bank. He currently sits on two committees of the International Actuarial Association as a representative of the Caribbean Actuarial Association and is President-elect of the Caribbean Actuarial Association. He also sits on the advisory committee of the Caribbean Association of Insurance Regulators and the strategic leadership team of Congress Corporate.

Mr. Anthony Smart

Anthony Smart is a Trinidadian politician and lawyer. Smart was a founding member of the Organisation for National Reconstruction (ONR) in November 1980 and the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR) in July 1985.

He served as a Member of Parliament from 1986 to 1991 and Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago from 1989 to 1991.

He was also Political Leader of the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR) from April 2000 to November 2001.

Since June 17, 2014, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the First Citizens Bank.

About the Seminar in Excellence Series – Improvised, Informative, Interactive

The Seminar in Excellence Series is hosted by the UWI Actuarial Science Club and is organized by the Actuarial Science programme coordinator Mr. Stokeley Smart (FSA). Approximately one seminar is held per semester. It seeks to bring together industry professionals and current university students on an interactive platform in order to educate students beyond the scope of pure academics. The information relayed contains not only career advice but professional etiquette, personal experiences and tips on work-life balance.
