Faculty of Law Presents the Human Rights Youth Forum

The Faculty of Law (FOL), International Human Rights Clinic (FOL IHRC), hosts the Human Rights Youth Forum.

Featured speakers include: Dr. The Honourable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts and Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, Dean of the Faculty of Law.

This is the fifth event of the FOL IHRC, Human Rights project titled, Strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s Human Rights Capacity through Innovative Legal Education Delivery.

The forum takes place April 6 from 1 to 6pm at the JFK Quadrangle. This event is free and open to the public. All are invited.

About the forum

The Human Rights Youth Forum on April 6th is one such initiative that seeks to create a dynamic space to pool resources and efforts with a view to raising the knowledge and interest of young people in Trinidad and Tobago to serve as advocates (movers and shakers) for human rights. Given the scope of the Faculty's efforts under its Human Rights project, discussions and activities at the Forum will focus on five main thematic areas:

  1. Persons deprived of Liberty (including refugees and remand prisoners);
  2. Indigenous Peoples
  3. Children’s Rights
  4. Disability Law
  5. Gender

About the Project

This Forum is being organised under the auspices of the project, ‘Strengthening Trinidad and Tobago’s Human Rights Capacity through Innovative Legal Education Delivery’ which is a project implemented by the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus and funded through the Ministry of Education under the European Development Fund.
