Topics to be covered:
- Establishing effective teacher/parent talk that builds word consciousness
- Support for word study when working with both novice and experienced sorters
- Critical principles of word study instruction and questions that guide critical thinking during word study.
- Comparative analysis of questioning and responses that build students’ ability to notice and to think about words. The session will feature an opportunity for parents and teachers to develop a script to use with given word sorts.
