Panchayat: A Virtual Research & Arts Symposium

Event Date(s): 24/02/2021 - 26/02/2021

Location: Facebook Live Stream

The Faculty of Humanities and Education invites you to participate in its upcoming virtual research and arts symposium titled Panchayat: The Mas(s) in We: (Re)claiming de People’s Festival, scheduled for 24-26 February, 2021. The three-day ‘panchayat’ or village conversations will seek to explore the myriad ways that ordinary folk can regain a stake in how the carnival is formulated and celebrated throughout the country. It will offer them a space to converse about how the festival can be (re)fashioned to mediate the impulses of untethered profiteering, formulaic creative expressions and state policing.

What does Carnival mean to you?

Participate in the 'Panchayat' symposium by telling us what does Carnival or the future of Carnival mean to you.  Send in your one minute video clip via Whatsapp (868) 368 3507 with your name and number.

Deadline for submissions is February 15, 2021.
