Shifting to Sustainable Healthy Diets

The Faculty of Food and Agriculture is partnering with the Food and Nutrition Project to host a webinar, Shifting to Healthy Diets and Sustainable Consumption patterns on July 29 at 2 p.m. This webinar seeks to identify solutions and make recommendations to enhance define healthy eating and raise awareness on the role of innovation in this area by the private sector. The webinar will address and expose you to areas such as: 
 
-The need for private sector solutions-based on the growing NCD problem, healthy diets, and nutrition to overall health and wellness  
-Crystallising prerequisites in devising solutions based on qualitative regional research on difficulties faced in transitioning to eating healthy foods. 
-Solutions initiated in the private sector to create demand for healthy diets. 
-Healthy Food Innovation over the past 10 years.  
 
This webinar aims: 
-To focus on solutions that are needed in light of the public health imperative of healthy diets and nutrition to overall health and wellness at this time of COVID 
-To understand what are the prerequisites of solutions in order to overcome known difficulties in transitioning from unhealthy to healthy foods  
-To identify the role currently played by private sector actors in producing, distributing, and marketing local healthy foods 
-To showcase healthy, local and sustainable food products and services from across the region 
 
The session will feature presentations from speakers such as: 
-Prof. Alafia Samuel - Principal Investigator of the Food and Nutrition Project 
-Dr. Madhuvanti M. Murphy - UWI Researcher 
-Mr. David Neilands - Private Sector Representative 
-Mr. Jody White - Entrepreneur, Cassava Fettuccine Innovator
