The Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) together with The Sexual Cultures for Justice project for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is hosting a Special Lunchtime Seminar titled “Let’s Talk Consent and CSE (Comprehensive Sex Education)”, which will take place on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 12 noon.
Don’t miss this informative presentation which will be facilitated by Dr. Krystal Nandini Ghisyawan, Director of Research, The Silver Lining Foundation and Dr. Angelique V. Nixon, IGDS Lecturer and Project Lead Researcher, A Sexual Culture of Justice.
This seminar will be an interactive discussion on tools for preventing gender-based violence through frameworks of sexual rights and sex-positivity. The presenters will share knowledge and materials created through the completed human rights project “A Sexual Culture of Justice” and advocacy for social change and advancement of sexual rights. This seminar will offer practical engagement in how we transform harmful gender and sexual norms, and relatedly, how we build a culture of consent and empowerment around sex and sexuality. Community-based actions on GBV prevention and research findings on gender-based bullying in schools will provide evidence and offer pathways for new approaches in our work to end GBV.
