The Department of Mathematics and Statistics then embarked on the UWI Math Fair 2019, which was held in the JFK Auditorium and the JFK Lecture Theatre. The event is geared towards increasing the interest of students in the field of Mathematics and to motivate them to pursue further studies at UWI. It comprises of a grand opening ceremony and various puzzles and logic games, which can serve as a form of stress relief for all secondary school students in Trinidad and Tobago, and students of UWI, whilst also promoting the real-world applications of Mathematics. It will allow students to view Mathematics in an exciting way, spark enthusiasm for the various applications of Mathematics in real-life and highlight the various programmes and research opportunities available at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).
