UWI Biological Society's Conservation Conversation: Pet Trade

Event Date(s): 24/03/2022

The UWI Biological Society would like to invite all students to attend their upcoming Conservation Conversation on ThursdayMarch 24 2022 from 2 - 3 p.m.

The theme for the session will focus on the Pet Trade, and it will be facilitated by Ms. Lauren Ali, the Co-Manager of the Nurture Nature Campaign.

Trinidad and Tobago has seen the exotic pet trade thrive in the illegal and cruel distribution of our natural wildlife. This has led to the endangerment and extirpation of various animal species, in addition to the inhumane treatment of animals where they are treated as commodities rather than living beings. The Pet Trade has further negative implications in its introduction of non-native invasive species into the wild, resulting in the disruption of local ecosystems.
