FFA Seed Fair

You are cordially invited to attend the launch of the UWI Faculty of Food and Agriculture (FFA) 1st annual Seed Fair carded for Earth Day, Friday  April 22 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the University Field Station. This event aims to highlight the importance of seed saving for food and seed security in Caribbean SIDS.

This event hopes to gather commercial vegetable producers & backyard gardeners alike, seed savers and seed suppliers to initiate a platform/movement for seed saving and seed-foodenvironmental education and awareness. The event also aims to introduce the public to our recently completed Seed Facility for seed testing and seed banking activities. We will also showcase various diagnostic services offered by the Department of Food Production in seed testing and well as other related services such as soil testing and plant disease identification.

The event will be formally acknowledged with some opening remarks by the Dean, Faculty of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Mark Wuddivira at 9:15 a.m. The theme for this event is “SOS – Reclaim our Seeds” As part of the day’s activities, there will be seed exchanges and seed sales as well as tours. Come, interact, and network with fellow seed savers as we begin a movement of seed savers.
