Strengthening National Statistics for Sustainable Development through Gendered Lenses

Event Date(s): 29/04/2022

The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) presents Strengthening National Statistics for Sustainable Development through Gendered Lenses. National statistics are replete with standards that reinforce the presentation of data on national facts, events, outcomes and experiences disaggregated by sex.  Often times, there are questions surrounding the value and even the validity of such data in facilitating valid analysis, interpretation and conclusions in accordance with gendered lenses.  The webinar will discuss perspectives that would enable data producers and data consumers to reflect upon the critical nature of gender as a concept that is central to sustainable development agendas and more importantly, pave the way for advancing the cause of gendered statistical data as critical ingredients in informing and interpreting a range of social activities, behaviours, and experiences that are often among targets established to attain sustainable development goals.
