UWIBDF Twenty-Fourth Voluntary Blood Drive

Event Date(s): 11/06/2022

The UWI Blood Donor Foundation will be hosting a blood drive on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex Blood Bank.

This will be a PURELY VOLUNTARY blood drive, which has tremendous benefits. Your blood donation can help save the lives of people who need blood transfusions.

You are all familiar with the usual requirements:

  • Weight 110 pounds, no recent viral infection
  • No recent travel to malarial countries or countries in South, Central or Latin America
  • Tattoos and piercings must be over a year old
  • No recent dental extractions

but some additional regulations will apply because of COVID-19:

  • Donors who have tested positive for or have had symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 or have a history of travel to an affected country in the past 28 days should not donate.
  • Donors must strictly follow appointments to allow a smooth flow and maintenance of social isolation guidelines. Make an appointment using the following link: https://forms.gle/XKwGmxNFXfwexQxz5
  • Donors should arrive as close to their appointment as possible to avoid congestion.
  • Donors should leave as soon as possible after donation and rehydration to prevent crowding.
  • Donors should report the occurrence of any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or a positive COVID-19 test that occur within 28 days after donation.
  • Donors who received the COVID-19 vaccine will be eligible to donate once they are well.

COVID-19 is not spread by blood donation or transfusion. Please note that facilities will be in place to allow hand-sanitization and facilitate social distancing. We will be coordinating using WhatsApp and text messaging. We look forward to seeing you at the blood drive. Thank you!
