The Department of Economics Annual Conference on the Economy (COTE) is scheduled for November 3 and 4, 2022, via Zoom. COTE is a landmark event of The UWI St Augustine, Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Economics at which findings from quality research and other studies are presented to inform economic and social policy. The conference highlights what the Department see as the key economic issues facing Trinidad & Tobago in particular and the wider Caribbean region by extension, in light of the present global environment. From its inception, the Department has used the conference to disseminate ideas, research, and critiques of the major social and economic challenges experienced by Caribbean Economies.
This year’s conference will explore the theme Climate Change and Disaster Management: Towards Sustainable Development for Small Island Developing States, and will address the following sub-themes:
1. The Economics of Natural Disasters: disaster management, risk management, policy implementation
2. The Economics of Climate Change, Adaptation and Mitigation
3. Economic issues facing Caribbean countries or the Caribbean region
