Event Date(s): 09/12/2022

Location: Virtual

The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute for Social and Economic and presents a webinar on the topic Development Finance for a Low-Carbon Caribbean Future: Issues and Solutions on Friday December 9, 2022 from 10 a.m. via the Zoom platform.

The Caribbean region faces many hurdles as it seeks to transition to a low-carbon economy. The financing costs associated with said transition is among the highest hurdles. Financing the Caribbean’s low-carbon transition is an issue that is high on the region’s policy agenda. How will the region finance this transition to a low-carbon economy? What are the sources of finance available to Caribbean countries? What are the barriers to financing? How can these barriers be removed? These are critical questions facing Caribbean countries seeking to finance their low-carbon transition. This forum will discuss these and other questions and put forward potential solutions by identifying the critical challenges to the transition and providing potential solutions, which may be used to inform current policy discussions. The discussion will put forward critical issues on development finance as it relates to low-carbon transitioning in the Caribbean region, and solution frameworks that can address said issues.
