The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies with support from UN Women through the Spotlight Initiative  Caribbean Regional Programme is launching the  Massive Open Online Course (MOOC):  Gender Analysis of Prevalence and Administrative Data on Violence against Women and Girls. This course upholds the Departments persistent commitment towards demonstrating the value of research and data collection as integral to efforts to redress ills associated with the scourge of violence against women and girls in the Caribbean.

This launch is geared toward reinforcing the importance of sustaining administrative data on violence against women and girls in the Caribbean and ensuring that human resources exist to treat and overcome the scourge of violence against women and girls and highlight the power of collaborative ventures in realising progressive development agendas that thrive on unique partnership strengths of SALISES as an international leader in Open Online training and UNWOMEN as an international development agency. 

Featured Speakers at this course launch include:

  • Prof. Aldrie Henry-Lee, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Office of Graduate Studies & Research;
  • Ms. Malgorzata Wasilewska – Ambassador, Delegation of the European Union to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean States, the OECS and CARICOM/CARIFORUM (TBC)
  • Mr. Dennis Zulu – Resident Coordinator a.i., United Nations – Trinidad & Tobago, Curacao and Sint Maarten (TBC)
  • Ms. Tonni Ann Brodber – Representative, UN Women MCO – Caribbean
