Child Sexual Abuse Interventions: How far have we come and where are we now?

Event Date(s): 20/04/2023

Location: School of Education Auditorium

The Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) and Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago (BATT) invites you to Break the Silence Campaign’s Discussion titled “Child Sexual Abuse Interventions: How far have we come and where are we now?” The Panel Discussion will be held at the School of Education Auditorium on Thursday, April 20, at 10 a.m.

This is part of the IGDS/BATT Filling the Gaps: Evidence-Based Advocacy to end Child Sexual Abuse collaborative project. This phase of the project is focused on building the responsiveness of the outreach of the Break the Silence (BTS) Campaign and associated projects to end Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and related forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The panel discussion is not only a form of commemoration but will help to gather information that can inform future advocacy efforts to catapult legislative, policy and programmatic interventions addressing CSA within Trinidad and Tobago.

The objectives of the Panel Discussion are:

  • To identify the existing legislative, policy and programmatic interventions that have been implemented to address CSA
  • To highlight the role of the BTS Campaign in the overall advocacy efforts to mitigate CSA and related forms of GBV
  • To explore the evolved manifestations of CSA especially within digital spaces
  • To identify the current gaps that exist in addressing CSA
  • To delineate the interventions that are currently needed to address CSA in the current sociocultural context.
