This Certificate in the Humanities Programme is a year-long programme divided into two specialisation options: Liberal Arts and Caribbean Studies. It is a 24-credit year-long programme that is primarily taught in a modular format to expose students to a variety of topics and experts within the Faculty.
The Liberal Arts Specialisation seeks to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the Humanities by exploring areas such as History, Literature, Linguistics, Cyber-technology, Social Studies and The Creative and Festival Arts.
This programme is intended to provide matriculation and/or advanced standing into certain Faculty of Humanities and Education degree programmes. Students who have successfully completed this degree with a B average or above will be eligible for admission (once all other admission requirements are met) into the Bachelor of Arts degree programmes in Communication Studies, Film, Literature, History, Linguistics, English Language and The Creative and Festival Arts. These students will not be required to have passes at the CAPE level.
