The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) continues its Spotlight Series this year featuring lectures from its associated fellows, showcasing their research in their field of expertise. Dr. Godfrey St. Bernard, Director (Ag.) Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, The UWI STA, will facilitate a virtual lecture on Championing Development Statistics: A Vow That I Kept. This online lecture takes place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 10 a.m.
The time has come to realize the National Statistical Institute of Trinidad and Tobago and an elevated culture of statistics and its role in decision making consistent with the requirements of the second quarter of the 21st century. At this online event, Dr. St. Bernard would trace his engagement in the early social indicator movement, his reverence for statistical facts, and their engagement in a variety of real world problems with implications for development in Caribbean spaces. In the UWI, the event reinforces the virtue of development statistics as a valuable suite of expertise and thus; brings attention to the MSc Development Statistics Programme administered under the auspices of SALISES. Development justice has become an important buzz word that can only be gauged in the context of preparing, analysing and dissemination development statistics.
