Event

The Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, UWI, St. Augustine Campus has been chosen as the host of the 2008 UWI, Faculty of Social Sciences & First Caribbean International Inter-Campus Business Case Analysis Competition to be held during the period of May 26^th – May 28^th 2008. This competition is open to all third year students in the Department of Management Studies throughout the various campuses, who will be competing as a team for the event. There will be three teams, each representing the various campuses. The teams comprise four (4) students and their respective lecturer/coach.

The actual competition is scheduled to take place on Tuesday May 27th 2008 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Auditorium, UWI School of Education.

The Case “First Caribbean International Bank – The Marketing and Branding Challenges of a Startup” will be used for the 2008 competition.

PRIZES

Teams will be competing for the University of the West Indies - First Caribbean International Bank Challenge Trophy and other prizes valued in excess of US $5,000, as follows:

First Prize: The winning team will take home the challenge trophy as well as

US$1,500 cash

Second Prize: Pen sets or other gift for each team member plus team cash prize of US$ 750.00

Third Prize: Pen sets or other gift for each team member plus team cash prize of US$ 500.00

Team Spirit Prize (3 – one per team):

Each team will select from among their team members one person who they wish to specially recognize for their role in building and supporting the team. (US$200 each)

First Caribbean Chairman’s Prizes:

Team prize – best analysis of case – US$500

Team prize – most original team – US$500

Individual prize – best overall presenter – US$500

Members of faculty, students and the general public are invited to attend. Light snacks will be provided.
