University Council Meeting

On Friday, April 26, Vice-Chancellor of The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, will give a detailed report to the University Council on the significant progress made by The UWI during the 2022/2023 academic year, as well as the challenges it faced. The report will also reflect on the University's 75 years of service.

Themed "75 years. Regional Transformation to Global Leadership", the report is a major feature of the annual University Council Meeting, which is the highest governing body of the University. Decisions on appointments, finances, and other university matters are made during this meeting, which will be presided over by the Chair of the University Council, Chancellor Robert Bermudez.

The public session of the meeting will be broadcasted live on UWItv from 10:00 a.m. The agenda for the meeting will include the Chairman's opening remarks by Chancellor Bermudez and the Report to University Council by Vice-Chancellor Beckles.

Vice-Chancellor Beckles’ report will cover several important topics, including:

- Management of The UWI's expenditure and revenue

- Global leadership in research influence and current rankings

- Advances in activism and the reparatory justice movement

- Deepening the University's SDG engagement

- Alignment through strategic partnerships

- Outstanding regional and international contributions of UWI staff, students, and alumni.

The public session of the meeting will be broadcasted on UWItv’s website, its Facebook page, and Flow Evo Channels
