Migration: A people on the move

The Department of History will host a seminar by visiting Professor Edward Cox of Rice University titled, “A People on the move: Grenadian and Vincentian Migration to the Greater Caribbean in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries” on Thursday 1st May, 2008 at Room 330, Faculty of Humanities and Education Building from 1:30 p.m.

Professor Edward Cox is the Director of Graduate Studies in the History Department at Rice University. His areas of specialisation include Caribbean History, Comparative American Slavery and African American History. Professor Cox is noted in Caribbean historiography for his work on the Lesser Antilles, particularly Grenada, St. Vincent and St. Kitts He has published an impressive array of books and articles which span the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He is best known for his work on the Free Coloureds and the emancipation process. His latest projects focus on the modern history of Grenada and St. Vincent.
