The Department of Behavioural Sciences invites you to the Oliver Cromwell Cox Conference. The event begins with the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, April 25 at the LRC Auditorium at 5:00 p.m., followed by two days of discussions on Friday April 26 and Saturday April 27 at the LRC Auditorium, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Themed 'Caste, Class, and Race', this conference aims to explore the significant contributions of Oliver Cromwell Cox and broaden the visibility of his work in academia. Covering a wide array of topics, participants can expect a deep dive into Cox's unique perspectives and methodologies, hear from feature speaker Professor John H. McClendon III of Michigan State University, gain an understanding of the role of race and class in contemporary Caribbean social thought, racial capitalism, intersectionality, and feminist theory in Caribbean sociology, and an analysis of the impact of world systems analysis on the Caribbean in the 21st century.
